The Samsung I9000 Galaxy S does not give you the best of first impressions. The clichéd black slab doesn’t exactly grab your attention. But on close inspection, it most definitely will impress even the toughest of critics. The mobile phone has everything that go to define a smartphone these days – a large touchscreen, a powerful processor, support for 3.5G and ofcourse, an enviable operating system – you guessed it. It’s Android.
The device runs on an Android 2.1 operating system and is powered by a 1GHz processor, which as we know is faster than ever. And 3.5G support means that download and upload speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps and 5.76 Mbps is possible. The I9000 is a connectivity hive, for it has WiFi, Bluetooth, GPRS and EDGE
are there as well. So if you’re the type who likes keeping yourself connected all the time, the I9000 could be just perfect.
Mutimedia support – no smartphone can be called so without it. And Samsung I9000 Galaxy S has plenty to offer in that respect – FM radio and music player are included, with supports to Windows Media, MP3, DivX, AAC and OGG formats. An efficient 5MP camera with autofocus is included and you can also record HD 720p video with a frame rate of 30 frames per second. With smartphones housing such high-end cameras, one can even make a short documentary on the way home form office!
Samsung I9000 Galaxy S smartphone also has a digital compass and GPS included in it, and using it as an in-car satnav should be very easy. And for those of you who have been peeved by the way Android gobbles up the power, the I9000 houses a heavy-duty 1500 mAh battery, so battery life shouldn’t be a problem. The way Samsung has played with the Android interface however, could be be a problem for some. We don’t have any news about availability, but industry experts feel that it could come for around £400.
