HTC Hd7

Today was Windows Phone 7 launch day  and, wouldn’t you know it, we got to go hands-on with a number of devices. Some of them you’ve heard of before while some of them might be new. Let’s start with T-Mobile’s HTC’s HD7.
You should note that these are not all launch devices. AT&T’s official launch devices are the HTC Surround, LG Quantum, and the Samsung Focus, but the HTC HD7 will launch with T-Mobile in mid-November. T-Mobile noted that this will be “one of the first” Windows Phone 7 devices but hasn’t given an exact date.
This was the one of the more exciting Win Phone 7 phones available for testing today. It’s a larger device with a 4.3-inch 800×480 display, putting it squarely in the high-end phone market. There is 16GB of storage and a 5MP camera with dual LED flash. The HD7’s dimensions are 4.8 x 2.7 x 0.44-inches and it weighs 5.7 ounces.

It runs a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, just like most of the phones we saw today. This makes for smooth, responsive operation, but while the HD7 felt great, it didn’t feel any faster or smoother than the competition. The HD7 handles nicely and feels like a premium device.
On the back of the device is a flip-out kickstand which goes over the camera (thought the camera works with it closed). This is a handy way to highlight the display and allow for an easy way to watch video or display a slideshow.

This will be the first device to run T-Mobile’s Family Room, which is used by family members so they can stay in touch and keep track of each other’s lives. Other notable software features include HTC’s app launcher, which has custom apps like a measurement converter, sound enhancer, and photo enhancer, and T-Mobile TV. The TV app will stream live and on-demand TV content right to the phone. It’s powered by MobiTV and should cost $9.99 a month.
Overall the screen looks great, the phone is thin, and it has a solid camera that can record HD video. I am a bit concerned about the kickstand getting caught on something and bending or even breaking, but the people at HTC and T-Mobile seemed really confident in the design. If you are looking for a Windows Phone 7 device, this seems to be one of the top picks so far. The size will be an issue for some people, so if that’s there case there are at least a few 3.8- and 4.0-inch WP7 phones to choose from.We don’t know the price yet, but I was told that it will be priced “competitively”.
